Rehearsal Blog

Week Four

Thursday 27 March 2008

This was out penultimate rehearsal session. So, as the performance draws near, we ran through everything we’ve done so far and re-capped the Island Call-and-Response. We also taught the students a Party dance for the final scene – a dance choreographed to the Supergrass song Alright. Everybody enjoyed the lyrics…

“We are young. We are free.
Brush our teeth, ’Til they’re clean.
See our friends. See the sights.
We’re alright!”

Everyone has remembered the play brilliantly and it is looking really good. We’ve pieced together all the scenes and just need to brush up on the transitions between them. With one more rehearsal session to go, we’ll be running through the play as many times as possible so that everybody is clear about what to do and when to do it.

Bridge of Dreams will be performed to an invited audience of friends, family, funders, Almeida Theatre employees and Bridge School staff. The time has gone so quickly. We’ve had a fantastic time and hopefully everyone will enjoy the performance.

Highlights of the Week

  • MJ remembered, again, that the sea was cold.
  • Levi burped a lot…again!
  • Harry sang to us about dinosaurs before leaving the room.
  • Hassan, Charlie and Daniel shook hands with Dan at the session and said how much they had enjoyed the Party song.
  • Adam remembered all the words to the Party song and repeated them over and over.
