Rosmersholm Re-homed

For one intensive week in June 2008, the Almeida Projects team will be working with AS Level Drama and Performing Arts students from City & Islington College to create a short presentation inspired by the Almeida Theatre's production of Rosmersholm.

The Almeida Projects team will lead a series of workshops in the Almeida's rehearsal room and at the college.  Students will use physical theatre and non-naturalistic techniques to explore the themes of Rosmersholm and draw on their own skills and experience to create their own vision of Ibsen's work.  The project aims to build and expand students' devising skills and foster a group dynamic, in advance of their final year of study.

Participants will watch Rosmersholm at the start of the residency week, and use the themes and ideas in the play as stimuli for devising their own performance.  They will take part in an intensive workshop day where they will explore the key themes of the play through physicality.  They will then divide into smaller groups and spend time devising and developing the themes and ideas with professional directors and actors, culminating in a final presentation of their work.
