Young Friend of the Almeida Theatre
Summer Residency
4 - 8 August 2008
Come and make theatre with the Almeida Projects team!
Working with professionals from the Almeida Theatre, this week-long residency offers you the chance to take part in an exciting series of exploratory drama workshops, culminating in a shared presentation of your work at the end of the week. This residency is for performers and designers.
The week's activities will be inspired by the first production in the Almeida Theatre's Autumn Season, Kicking a Dead Horse, a new play by American writer Sam Shepard. Taking the play as a starting point, Young Friends will participate in a creative laboratory, working with a professional director, designer and musician, to create a brand new piece of theatre, and a world in which it will be performed. Young Friends will transform the Almeida's rehearsal room into a brand new space, exploring the notion of 'transition' through theatricality. In Kicking a Dead Horse, this transition is from a comfortable New York lifestyle to a modern-day Wild West, but who knows where this week's journey will take you...
Participating in the Summer Residency is entirely FREE. You just need to be creative and have lots of energy and enthusiasm. You also need to be able to commit to the full week.
There are only 18 places available, so allocation will be on a first come, first served basis.
To reserve your place, contact Charlie Payne on 020 7288 4916 or email cpayne@almeida.co.uk
