A Chain Play

An Almeida Benefit

Playwrights Samuel Adamson, Moira Buffini, David Hare, Charlotte Jones, Frank McGuinness and Roy Williams, wrote the Almeida’s first Chain Play which was performed for one night only on Friday 23 March 2007 as part of a benefit event to help support the Almeida's artistic programme.

 

A Chain Play was directed by Tom Cairns (Aristocrats at the National Theatre) and the cast included:

 

Jodie Whittaker, last seen in the Almeida’s hugely successful 2006 production of Enemies, or more recently starring alongside Peter O’Toole in Venus.

 

Danny Sapani, best known for his performance of Macbeth in Max Stafford-Clarke’s outstanding production.

 

Jenny Jules, who will soon be playing a leading role in Michael Attenborough’s forthcoming production of Big White Fog, and who starred in the Tricycle’s acclaimed production of Fabulation.

 

Michele Austin, best known for her role as PC Yvonne Hemingway in The Bill, and for her roles in Mike Leigh’s films Secrets and Lies and All or Nothing.

 

Alastair Mackenzie, best known for playing the lead role of Archie in Monarch of the Glen. Alastair's theatre work includes The Gigli Concert (Assembly Rooms), Agamemnon, Cybeline, Servant of Two Masters (Bare and Ragged Theatre).

 

Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, who will shortly be appearing as Phillip in Michael Attenborough's production of Big White Fog. A recent graduate of Central School of Speech and Drama, he has also appeared in Brixton Stories at the Lyric Hammersmith.

 

The performance was followed by an exclusive post-show party with cocktails, food and dancing into the night.
