The Almeida Theatre does not currently programme work as part of its main programme with a young audience in mind. However, the theatre firmly believes in the importance and necessity of creating high quality, accessible work for a young audience and has developed a formula for doing this.
Almeida Projects selects a play from the Almeida Theatre’s season of work and commissions a writer to create a brand new play inspired by this, specifically for a younger audience, usually aged between 13-15.
We generate new productions that take the original play’s themes and issues, as a starting point, to produce a new piece of theatre that places young people’s lives at the centre of the drama. And by programming it at a time that is suitable for school audiences, we can be sure that the productions reach their intended audience at a time and cost that is right for them.
As with all of our work, a comprehensive Educational Resource Pack complementing the production and Introductory Workshops are available.
