Almeida Theatre Presents Dante or Die's

I Do

Created by Co-Artistic Directors Daphna Attias and Terry O’Donovan with words by Chloe Moss
Wed 26 Feb 2014 - Sun 9 Mar 2014

**** “Clever, funny, touching” Evening Standard

The ceremony begins in ten minutes.

The Best Man is practicing his last minute speech. The Bridesmaids are squeezing the bride into her dress. Mum and Dad are seeing each other for the first time in years. Grandma is dressing her husband whilst the groom’s brother is getting frisky with the maid of honour. Meanwhile, the Groom is frozen...

Love and marriage collide in this site-specific tour through six hotel rooms; a funny, vivid and often moving exploration of life dressed (and undressed) in all its finery, seen through the lens of an everyday family wedding.

Divided into groups, audiences will move through six hotel rooms and experience the same ten minutes in a different order.

Dante or Die’s critically acclaimed I Do returns for a limited run at the Hilton Hotel, Docklands, following its sell-out success in August 2013 as part of the Almeida Festival.

I Do was co-commissioned by the Almeida Festival along with Southstreet Reading and is generously supported by Arts Council England and Unity Theatre Trust.

Members of the company talk about the inspiration for the show, the audience journey,
and their favourite props:

Previous work by Dante or Die La Fille à la Mode and Side Effects:

"The Almeida has been a key supporter of this new project, having given us seed funding at the beginning of our process to develop ideas. In the intervening 12 months, Festival Director Lucy Morrison has nurtured the development of the piece, most crucially by linking us to playwright Chloe Moss. We're looking forward to offering Almeida audiences a fun and thought-provoking theatrical experience about weddings and marriages and developing Dante or Die's repertoire in such esteemed company!"
Daphna Attias, Artistic Director
