"The Most Powerful, chilling, evil - feeling Macbeth since McKellen and Dench"
The Times
Shakespeare's Macbeth explores the darkest depths of human aspiration. Driven by an insatiable hunger for power, posterity and certainty, Macbeth and his wife commit a murder and set in motion the inevitable unraveling of their own humanity.
As the tragedy unfolds and the horrors increase, Macbeth descends into a solitary hell of his own making, powerless, childless and hopeless.
Simon Russell Beale's other theatre credits include the title role in John Caird's production of Hamlet for which he won the Evening Standard and Critics Circle Awards. He appeared in Uncle Vanya and Twelfth Night at the Donmar, for both of which he won the Evening Standard and Critics Circle Awards for Best Actor, and Jumpers at the National Theatre and on Broadway.
Emma Fielding's theatre credits include Private Lives on Broadway and in London's West End, Imogen in Cymbeline and Isabella in Measure for Measure in 2003 for the RSC.
