Stockard Channing

 

Award-winning American stage, film and television actor Stockard Channing will play Bessie.  Her London theatre credits include The Exonerated at Riverside Studios and Six Degrees of Separation for the Royal Court, which later transferred to the Comedy Theatre.  Her New York theatre work includes Hapgood, Six Degrees of Separation and House of Blue Leaves all for the Lincoln Centre, Love Letters at the Promenade Theater, Women in Mind for Manhattan Theatre Club and Joe Egg for the Longacre Theatre, for which she won a Tony Award. 

 

On television she is best know for her role as First Lady Abbey Bartlet in the hugely popular US drama series, The West Wing. Her film credits include Six Degrees of Separation for which she was nominated for an Oscar, Up Close and Personal, Moll Flanders, Bright Young Things, Business of Strangers and Grease, in which she played Rizzo.

Trevor Cooper was last seen at the Almeida Theatre in The Late Henry Moss.  His other theatre work includes The Tempest for the Royal Exchange Theatre, Playing With Fire for the National Theatre - directed by Michael Attenborough, A Night at the Dogs for Soho Theatre, By The Bog of Cats at Wyndham’s, The Lieutenant of Inishmore, The Prisoners Dilemma and King John all for the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Almeida’s production of The Iceman Cometh at the Old Vic. 

 

His film work includes Dead Fish, Vanity Fair, Gangs of New York and Drowning by Numbers.  On television his work includes Ancient Rome, The History of Mr Polly, Trial and Retribution, My Hero, Rose and Maloney, Trevor’s World of Sport and Drop the Dead Donkey.

His television credits include Cromwell, Brass Eye and Hollyoaks and his film credits include Empire of the Sun and Full Metal Jacket.

Paul Jesson's extensive theatre credits include, more recently, The Seagull for the Royal Court, Troilus and Cressida for the Royal Shakespeare Company, Mary Stuart and Twelfth Night for the Donmar Warehouse, The Winter’s Tale for Shakespeare’s Globe, Death of a Salesman for the Royal Lyceum Edinburgh, Rita, Sue and BobToo for Soho Theatre and King Lear for the Almeida at King’s Cross.  He has worked extensively for the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre, Liverpool Everyman and Manchester’s Library Theatre.

 

On television his work includes Foyles War, The Amazing Mr Prichard, Slave Trader, Spooks, Rome and Pie in the Sky.

 

On film his credits include Mike Leigh’s Vera Drake and All or Nothing as well as Crosstalk, Acceptable Levels and The Ploughman’s Lunch.

Nigel Lindsay returns to the Almeida where he has previously been seen in Romance, The Earthy Paradise and The Tower.  His other theatre credits include Guys and Dolls at the Piccadilly Theatre, The Woman Before and Push Up for the Royal Court, The Pillowman, Blue Remembered Hills and Dealers Choice for the National Theatre and The Real Thing for the Donmar Warehouse which later transferred to the West End and Broadway.

 

His television credits include Jam and Jerusalem, All About George, New Tricks, My Family, Harbour Lights and Murphy’s Law. His film credits include On A Clear Day, Mike Bassett England Manager and Rogue Trader.

John Rogan returns to the Almeida where his previous theatre credits include Macbeth and The Iceman Cometh.  His other extensive theatre credits include Julius Caesar for the Barbican, Buried Child, The Cripple of Inishmann and Jumpers for the National Theatre and in the West End and Broadway, Plasticine for the Royal Court and Don Carlos and Volpone for the Royal Shakespeare Company.

 

His television work includes Christopher Wren:  Master of the Universe, Father Ted and Broken Glass. His film work includes Intermission and Doctor Sleep.

Since graduating from The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2005 Jodie Whittaker starred as Nadya in Michael Attenborough’s sell-out production of Enemies as well as having played a leading role in Roger Michell’s critically acclaimed film Venus.  Jodie Whittaker was last at the Almeida in A Chain Play which was performed for one night only earlier this year as part of the theatre’s major 2007 fundraising event.  Her other work has included Ampelisca in Tim Caroll’s Globe production of The Storm, Sue in Neil Labute’s Bash at the Trafalgar Studios and Billy Two-Sheds for BBC1.
