Leviathan - The Angel that Troubled the Waters - The Angel on the Ship
Chamber operas based on the Three Minute Plays by Thornton Wilder
Fri 13 Jul 2007
"One of the most outstanding contemporary writers of opera"
Sunday Telegraph
Thornton Wilder's three minute plays are short, pungent morality tales from Biblical and Renaissance sources. Glanert applies a dazzling variety of styles to get to the heart of their contemporary resonance. This semi-staged concert is a first chance for UK audiences to hear the operatic work of this celebrated opera composer.
Detlev Glanert's opera Jest, Satire, Irony and Deeper Meaning has received multiple productions worldwide. His production of Caligula, was acclaimed as "utterly compelling" (Financial Times) at its premiere in Frankfurt earlier this year.
