Meet the Characters
Andrew Pembrooke (Purgon), T'Nia Miller (Beline), Debbie Korley (Toinette), Ricky Norwood (Argon), Emma Powell (Angelique) and Curtis Jordan (Cleante)
ARGAN: Ricky Norwood
11 years old, spoilt, self-obsessed, his symptoms are all those normally attributed to the changes going on in a pre-pubescent body: hair sprouting, voice changing, spots, rashes, coughs, colds etc... Able to get up out of his wheelchair and indulge in a comedy chase when necessary. Manipulative but ultimately vulnerable.
TOINETTE: Debbie Korley
13 going on 40. A wise and witty head on young shoulders. The Household depends on Toinette's straight-talking common sense to keep it going. Not above getting locked into sibling squabbles with Argan when provoked but basically hardworking, bright young girl with an ability to think laterally and to see the comedy in any situation.
BELINE: T’Nia Miller
35-45. Supernanny-fairygodmother from Hell. Live-in Nurse to Argan. Systematically draining Argan of money for treats for herself and taking a cut for unnecessary therapies. A master tactician who hates children, an enchantress for Argan and a Cruella Devil for Toinette. Is exposed as a fraud - completely unrepentant.
ANGELIQUE: Emma Powell
30s. Slightly world-weary and ethereal romantic heroine. Having escaped marriage to a tyrant (because he died) now lives in fear of tyrannical son (Argan) whom she spoils, clever daughter Toinette and bossy live-in Nurse, Beline. In love with ineffectual but gorgeous English teacher.
DOCTOR PURGON: Andrew Pembrooke
30s - 40s. Known as Doctor Puke by Toinette, adored by Argan. Puffed up, self-opinionated, charlatan, employing all latest alternative therapies and gadgets to purge Argan of his money.
CLEANTE: Curtis Jordan
30s. Heart throb. Toinette's English Teacher, in love with Angelique. Well versed in Keats and Shelley, completely unsuited to being a teacher and terrified of 11 year olds. Is forced by Toinette to pretend to be a children's entertainer and defeats/deflates Doctor Purgon.
