“The Almeida is an exemplary organisation, internationally synonymous with the presentation of bold play choices staged to the highest possible standards. The quality of the artistic programme and outstanding production values attracts theatre practitioners at the top of their career to work for this theatre.” Arts Council England 30 March 2011
The freedom and the means whereby we can continue to be bold, risk-taking and distinctive, producing work of the highest quality, costs money. £3.9m per annum to be precise. Despite consistently strong box office figures (yielding £1.7m pa) and a now diminishing Arts Council subsidy, we still have to raise at least £1.2m every year ourselves in order to maintain our work, both onstage (playing to over 100,000 people every year) and in the local community, where Almeida Projects - our creative learning programme, provides participation opportunities for over 10,000 young people.
We are, therefore, hugely reliant upon the financial commitment of a group of very special individuals, trusts, and companies who choose to become involved at the heart of our theatre. Your support will ensure that we can plan ambitiously for the future with security and confidence, whilst keeping ticket prices affordable (with around 40 seats sold each night for just £8). It will also mean we can safeguard the work of our Almeida Projects. I do hope that you might consider becoming involved with our wonderful theatre – at whatever level – helping us to continue turning our dreams into realities.
