Live Auction

1. Lunch Under Stage Lights

Exclusive access for Sunday lunch for ten on the Almeida stage

Take to the stage and experience the Almeida’s famously intimate space in an entirely different way. You and nine guests will enjoy lunch centre stage in a fictional Naples where the Filumena cast performed just the night before. A three-course meal will magically materialise courtesy of the Almeida Restaurant’s head chef Alan Jones. You’ll be joined by Filumena Designer, Robert Jones, for an insight into his recreation of 1940s Naples on our unique Islington stage.

2. Take Home an Antony Gormley Original

‘Lost Body’ by Antony Gormley 

A remarkable, one-off drawing kindly donated by Antony Gormley. Since winning the Turner Prize, Gormley has gone on to become one of Britain’s most internationally acclaimed artists; his most famous pieces including ‘Angel of the North’ and ‘Another Place’, the inspiration for the production image of the Almeida’s When The Rain Stops Falling in 2009. ‘Lost Body’ is composed in carbon and casein on paper with dimensions of 38cm x 28cm.

Recently winning rave reviews for her performances in Drive and Shame and set to have another fine year as Daisy Buchanan in Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, Carey Mulligan has come a long way since appearing in the Almeida’s Hypochondriac in 2005; going on to become one of the country’s most sought-after young actors. Celebrated photographer Johnnie Shand Kydd has been part of the Young British Artist movement, and chronicled its major artists with his beautiful and iconic images of Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Sarah Lucas, Sam Taylor-Wood, and many more. This is a one-off opportunity to join this illustrious group by having your own portrait session with him. The portrait can be on your own or with a friend and you will go home with a silver gelatin print of your chosen image.

11.  Be Part of the Process from Page to Stage

Unique rehearsal access to Children’s Children and then watch Stage Management call the show

Gain an exclusive insight into the process behind an Almeida production. You are invited by Director Jeremy Herrin to attend a rehearsal of Children’s Children, which receives its World Premiere at the Almeida on 17 May. Enjoy a lunch with Jeremy and then later sit next to the Stage Manager to watch a live performance from a unique behind-the-scenes perspective. You will also receive a working and published script of the play as well as two extra complimentary tickets.

Stephen Poliakoff’s long-hand manuscript of My City

My City premiered at the Almeida in September 2011 and saw the return to stage-writing of Stephen Poliakoff after twelve years. Stephen has kindly donated part of the original manuscript of this fascinating play. Gain an insight into the writing process and working mind of one of Britain’s best playwrights of the last twenty years, or simply take home a piece of theatrical history. This is a unique, highly collectible item for budding writers, Poliakoff fans and theatre enthusiasts alike.

13. Lounge Around Oh So Elegantly

Penelope Wilton’s gown from A Delicate Balance

The Almeida’s 2011 production of Edward Albee’s A Delicate Balance presented an elegant vision of a bygone suburban America, lovingly restored to life by designer Laura Hopkins. You can take home a piece of this Almeida history and a beautiful item in its own right; the silk gown worn by Penelope Wilton’s character Agnes. Alongside the garment you will receive a signed photograph of Penelope wearing the gown in the play’s glorious and devastating final act.

Personal drama workshop with actor Jenny Jules

Award-winning actor and Almeida Up Close performer Jenny Jules, last seen at the Almeida in the thrilling Ruined, will lead you in a one-on-one drama workshop in your own home. You will learn how to perfect an audition and nail a part. For aspiring actors, professionals and amateurs alike, this is a fantastic opportunity to learn from one of the finest actors working today.

Terms: two-hour session for one person; home visit to take place in Greater London area, alternative arrangements will be made in other cases. Time and date to be arranged directly between the winner and Jenny Jules within six months.

Corporate workshop for up to 40 people, with Almeida Projects

Shake away the blues on a Monday morning, build team morale, enhance individual and interpersonal communication in the workplace, or simply play around in any way you like. A drama workshop led by our very own Almeida Projects team, tailored completely to your individual and company needs.

Terms: Date to be mutually agreed within six months. Up to 6 hours of workshop, delivered either in a full day session for 1 group of 40 or 2 half day sessions taken on the same day for 2 groups of up to 20 participants per group. Workshops can be taken on the Almeida Theatre stage (by arrangement) or in your workplace. Alternative venues can be booked at cost. A preliminary meeting / consultation will be required to tailor the workshop to your needs.

‘Sunglasses’ by Maxwell Doig

‘Sunglasses’ is a striking mixed media piece by artist Maxwell Doig. Doig was born in Huddersfield, graduated from the University of Manchester School of Art with a BA in Fine Art, and went on to pursue post-graduate studies at the Slade. In 1997 he was awarded the Villiers David Prize. This work is a monotype and collage on paper, 130cm x 100cm approx.

The Arts Club in Mayfair reopened to huge fanfare after its luxurious renovation by interior designer David d'Almada. The club's art collection has been strengthened with wonderful new works by the likes of George Condo. Its advisory panel includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Stella McCartney and Anton Corbijn. The club has an excellent restaurant and a cabaret-style basement club with nights directed by Mark Ronson. Membership is now full and closed. However, the Arts Club has extremely generously made an exception.
